Dr Wu is the CEO and Founder of Surfin Meta Digital Technology (SMDT) Pte Ltd, a financial technology company in Singapore focused on serving the underserved.

He began his career as a research scientist at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center and Los Alamos National Lab, publishing academic papers in leading physical journals. Transitioning to finance, Dr Wu worked in a hedge fund for quantitative trading before joining TD Bank, where he managed $30 billion in assets over 13 years. He later moved to Asia, serving as Head of Quantitative Investment at Citic-Prudential, managing $4 billion in Asian equities.

Inspired by a commitment to financial inclusion, Dr Wu founded SMDT in 2017 to leverage his financial expertise and passion for technology. The company aims to offer services like consumer lending, payments, wealth management, and B2B solutions to individuals lacking access to traditional financial services.
