Dr. Taerin Lee is an accomplished engineer, advanced researcher, and entrepreneur currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of NEAR Brain Inc. He established a strong academic foundation at Sungkyunkwan University, earning his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees. He later completed postdoctoral research fellowships within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University and the Methodist Hospital Research Institute at the Texas Medical Center. Transitioning into professional corporate and institutional leadership, Dr. Lee worked as a Senior Researcher at Samsung SDI before building an expansive eight-year career at Seoul National University’s Advanced Institute of Convergence Technology (AICT). During his tenure at AICT, he excelled in multiple administrative and strategic positions, serving as Senior Researcher, Director of the Wearable/Healthcare Lab, Head of the Technology Planning Team, and Director of the Future Connected Platform. Dr. Lee also maintains a highly active intellectual property portfolio, holding fully issued patents for methods predicting brain disease risks and training neural networks to calculate brain blood flow data , alongside an extensive range of pending patent applications targeting AI-driven blood vessel graph generation, blood flow prediction models, and advanced virtual-environment and passthrough-based surgical training architectures.
